Fast vibration synthesis algorithm


The accurate calculation of variable speed noise and vibration levels requires a high number of speed steps to correctly catch all structural resonances. This usually represents a high computational load, as dynamic calculations must be carried at each speed.

Manatee Electromagnetic Vibration Synthesis (EVS) algorithm aims at speeding up computation of vibrations at variable speed or during optimization loops. This is done by separating the characterization of the structural response by mechanical engineers from the calculation of operational magnetic loads by electrical engineers. Besides, the algorithm of Manatee is using the knowledge of the modal basis to correctly capture the critical points.


Electromagnetic Vibration Synthesis can be performed by both electrical and mechanical engineers, either in early design phase with a simplified structural model, or in detailed design phase, when a full 3D FEA mechanical model of the electrical system has been defined outside Manatee. A  number of speed steps is proposed by default by Manatee, but it can be manually redefined. Manatee can easily calculate 100-200 speed steps within a minute based on its unique algorithms.
This fast calculation time allows to quickly iterate of design modifications and perform parameter sweeps.
